Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use beard oil?

There are many reasons why you should be using beard oil. For one, it can help to keep your beard healthy and moisturised. This is especially important if you live in a dry climate in New Zealand, or if you tend to suffer from dandruff or itchiness. Beard oil can also help to tame unruly hair, making it softer and more manageable.

Another reason to use beard oil is that it can give your beard a bit of shine and make it look fuller and more vibrant. If you have been thinking about growing out your beard, or if you already have a beard but want to make it look its best, then using beard oil is a great way to do so.

Finally, using beard oil can also help to protect your skin from the elements. The oil can create a barrier between your skin and the wind, sun, or cold weather, all of which can dry out your skin and cause irritation

How to use & apply beard oil

Beard oil is a leave-in conditioner that not only moisturises your beard, but also softens and tames unruly facial hair. Whether you're just starting to grow a beard, or you've been rocking one for years, using beard oil is essential to keeping your facial hair looking its best. Here's everything you need to know about how to use and apply the Jericho beard oil NZ range.

The first step to using beard oil is to make sure your beard is clean and dry. The best way to do this is to shower and then towel-dry your beard. Once your beard is clean and dry, it's time to apply the oil. Start by putting a few drops of oil into the palm of your hand. Then, rub your hands together to distribute the oil evenly. Once your hands are coated in oil, massage it into your beard, making sure to get down to the skin beneath. Continue massaging until the oil is fully absorbed.

Beard oil is most effective when used daily. However, if you find that your beard is looking particularly dry or unruly, you can use it more frequently. Just be sure not to overdo it, as too much oil can actually make your beard look greasy.

Now that you know how to use and apply beard oil, it's time to choose the right oil for you. Jericho are proud to offer a range of different types and scents of beard oil in NZ to suit any man.

How is beard oil different from beard balm?

Beard oil is a leave-in conditioner that helps to keep your beard healthy and looking its best. Beard balm is a styling product that can be used to shape and tame your beard. Both products can help to moisturise and protect your beard, but they differ in how they are used and what ingredients they contain.

Beard oil is typically applied after showering, when the beard is still damp. A few drops of oil are rubbed into the beard, from root to tip. This helps to hydrate the skin and hair, and prevents the beard from looking dry and brittle. Beard oil usually contains a mix of carrier oils and essential oils. Carrier oils help to nourish and moisturise the skin, while essential oils can provide a range of benefits depending on the oil used.

Beard balm is a thicker product that is used to style the beard. It contains beeswax or other waxes, which help to hold the hair in place. Balm also usually includes some type of butter, such as shea butter, which can further nourish the skin and hair. Like beard oil, balm can contain both carrier oils and essential oils. The carrier oils help to moisturise the skin, while the essential oils can provide a variety of benefits depending on the oil used.

Some Jericho customers prefer to use only one product, while others like to use both beard oil and balm. It really depends on your personal preference and what works for you.
